hey everyone...i'm new here and i thought i'd give you my story.. i was raised in "the truth".
my mother is still a witness of over 25 years, and a pioneer for over 10. my father is not in the truth.
he was supportive of my mother in her pioneering and everything, and he used to come to meetings occasionally when i was younger, but started coming less and less until he only came to the memorials.
it just shows how the world is not as black and white as the witnesses try to make it.

My Mom was also the inthusiastic witness and my Dad kind of got left in the dust.
He pasted away when I was 11. I would give anything to be able to tell him I love him.

some of you might remember i posted my thoughts on why, after years of shunning, and me continually trying to establish contact with the jw relatives that do this, i finally decided it was healthier for me to let them go and stop doing that.
this was especially true in the case of my younger brother, who was more like a best friend.
we spent a lot of time together before my extricating myself from the watchtower, including vacations and lots of weekends.
And you know what. It just didn't hurt anymore. All those years his shunning me upset me and hurt me and tore me up. But that hurt is gone now. It felt much like talking to someone you feel sorry for, but you know you can't help. But I didn't feel bad anymore, and that felt good.
I know EXACTLY where you are coming from. Especially the feeling sorry for them. We can't save them from the terrible "choking" teachings of the Borg. They have to save themselves!
Its ok to feel sad when you think about the situation though. Its all part of the healing process.

after reading a number of posts it sounds like most of you have been shunned even by your immediate family members (parents, brothers, sisters)after you were df'd.. i am shunned by my sister-in-law - but she's it out of the entire family.
my uncle, brothers, mother, and father (an elder before he passed away) all continued to associate with me - we even go out to dinners together.. so here's my question - is my family the minority?
i thought that only non-family members had to shun you but family was ok as long as they don't discuss spiritual issues.
I'm at the point where I don't know who is shunning me and who isn't....
The Borg has put a big fracture in my family but several have reached accross lately and we have become acquainted again...I posted a thread about it.

I'm at the point where I don't care who is shunning me. I've built a life and have friends outside the borg now and who the hell needs them.
I, by no means, mean to take away from the terrible hurt most of you are experiencing. I know cause I've been there. I just want you to know you CAN get past that. It is possible!

im working again at the moment, setting up a spare parts store for an electrical maintenance company.. i cant believe the pressure in the work place.everythings gotta be done yesterday, but noone wants to pay you any money to do it, and noone wants to give you any resources to execute the job.the guy in charge there is on a salary, and he works 60 hours a week minimum.. he worked on a repair job till 4am this morning, and the big bosses were complaining cause he didnt come in till lunchtime!
can you believe such shit?.
maybe ive lost touch over the past couple years, been a homebody.. everythings computerized.

now that dad has recovered his equilibrium, i just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone who expressed concern about my daughter the last couple of weeks.
in the great scheme of things this is a minor matter but it sure affected me!
i guess my family has been pretty lucky compared to others.. anyway, julie (that's the daughter one, not the wifely one) recovered so fast that she returned to school this past monday.
Every time i look at the board I wonder how your little one is doing.
So very glad she is doing so well.

i thought this deserved its own thread...below is a reply a made to one of the previous threads ( http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/forum/thread.asp?id=24473&site=3 ) and i am anxious for someone to refute it...or maybe i'm right.. not quite...it seems everyone is muddling the details on this.. it seems that james mccann, who donated the stocks to the wt, invented an improved rotary engine called a rand cam engine.
his company, the rand cam engine corp is a privately held company, but he has donated 50% of the stock to the wt (but retained the voting proxy so the wt has no say in what is going on), he owns 34% and the balance is owned by several shareholders.
this company is half owner of another company called rand energy group.
